Overall i prefer The Witcher, since it's a lot more adult and mature than DA:O. Juding DA:O with The Witcher 1 is tough since theyre both story based RPGs that rely on their universe to tell a great story. Witcher 1 is clunky, it feels like a book and it has its fair share of bugs but it's still a fantastic game If we were juding The Witcher 2 then it'd be a different matter, but we're not. Thye suceeded, but to compare them to Bioware is stupid. They loved the novels of The Witcher and wanted to put their thoughts into an RPG. The Witcher 1 wont be as polished or as well made as DA:O because it was litterally made by a new dev team. They then followed it with The Witcher 2 which won several Game of the Year awards and deserved them. It was made by a team of ameuters who loved The Witcher novels and wanted to try making a love letter game about them. The Witcher 1 is a fantastic RPG with a really gripping story, a fair amoung of bugs, absolutely terrible combat and a ton of really morally interesting choices to make during the game. Their RPGs are really freaking formulaic, but they still make for great stories. It was made by seasoned professionals who have been making great RPG games for years upon years, I think 2 decades by now (not sure on that though). Fantastic even, the story, voice acting and combat all feel nice. The Witcher is a franchise with an insanely strong universe that was only strengthened by The Witcher 2. DA:O is a singular game with a decent universe that was ruined by DA2.
